Wines & Sustainability

Since its foundation, Casca Wines has been concerned with sustainability and has achieved all its pillars.

We started as early as 2008, with social and cultural sustainability, as we wanted to revive unique traditions of Portugal, in the wine region of Colares in Sintra. At the same time, we ensured economic sustainability when we adjusted the value of the grapes and compensated the winegrowers for their resilience in cultivating their vineyards, in the Douro, Alentejo, Vinho Verde, Bairrada, Tejo, Dão, a little throughout the wine regions of the country. And, when in 2017, we started producing organic and natural wines in the Beira Interior region.

In 2023, we are activists in the protection of the Oceans! When we sell our Cabo da Roca Regional Lisboa wines, we will altruistically give back what the Oceans give us and, in many ways, contribute to their preservation.

Identity & Concept

Cabo da Roca wines are proof of the Atlantic influence on the character and flavor of the wines of the Lisbon region. And now they are also our way of contributing to the sustainability of the Oceans.

Re-branding Cabo da Roca wines

We know that a drop makes an ocean, join us and we will be many "drops" in the conservation and protection of our seas and oceans!

With the intention of developing a new concept that stands out for the way it acts in environmental sustainability and differentiates itself in the minds of consumers, because while we take pleasure in drinking a glass of Lisbon regional wine, we are helping to preserve our seas and oceans.

We gave the brand identity by hand-drawing representations of marine species such as the Bossa Whale, the Common Octopus and the Careta Turtle, to alert the consumer that we are associating ourselves with marine life.

We created the Ocean Guardian concept so that the consumer feels like us, an activist in protecting our seas and oceans.

We removed the capsule that surrounds the neck of the bottle, which has plastic in its composition that could end up in the ocean. No Capsule = No Plastic.

Promontorium Magnum for the Romans, the Roca of Lisbon during the age of sailing, or simply, Cabo da Roca.

The poet Luís De Camões mentions in his literary work "Os Lusíadas" that Cabo da Roca is "where the land ends and the sea begins". These were challenging times, seeking the conquest of the seas and new territories.

500 years later and the challenge today is quite different. Our seas and oceans are suffering and marine life is in critical condition. Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of the European continent and has always been a reference for those who live by the sea. Now it is also a reference for all those who are concerned about the mark they want to leave on our Oceans.

Baleia de Bossa

Megaptera novaeangliae better known as humpback whale is a marine mammal present in most oceans. When it jumps, it lifts its body almost completely out of the water, seeming to want to fly, and it is curious that its fins, which almost measure 1/3 of its length, look more like “big wings” which in ancient Greek translates to Megaptera.

Polvo

Octopus vulgaris It is a marine mollusk with eight strong arms and suction cups. It is a cephalopod, which has a soft body and has no internal or external skeleton. Theoretically, they would have developed their intelligence precisely for survival reasons, due to the fragility of their bodies. Its name comes from the Greek word pol'ypous, which translates to "of many feet".
